Two helmet urchins (Colobocentrotus artatus) share a small tide pool near Glass Beach on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Hawaiians call these urchins kaupali, which means "cliff hanging." Helmet urchins are especially well adapted to clinging to rocky shores that are frequently pounded by large waves.
