Waimea Canyon, located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, was carved by tremendous run-off from Mount Waialeale, the wettest spot on Earth. The late afternoon sun spotlights the texture of the canyon walls. Waimea Canyon is known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific" for its great size.
