The colorful lantana (Lantana camara) plant is actually considered a noxious weed in Hawaii. Lantana, a member of the Verbenaceae family, was imported to decorate gardens and was rapidly spread by birds. It forms dense thickets to crowd out other plants and can survive all but the hottest fires.
