A nene (Nesochen
sandvicensis) rests in the Kilauea Point National Wildlife
Refuge in Kauai, Hawaii. The nene is the state bird of Hawaii
and may have decended from the Canada goose. The nene is
endangered with only about 500 living in the Hawaiian Islands;
it is found nowhere else. |
