Clouds, lit by the full moon, streak by Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming. Thinner parts of the clouds caught the moons light; the streaks are the result of a four-minute exposure.

Early one morning, I was scrambling, in the dark, trying to find a great location where I could photograph Devils Tower at sunrise. I pulled over near a farmer’s field to get an idea of how Devils Tower would look there when I noticed the full moon going in and out of the clouds. And some parts of the cloud were so thin they ended up scattering, not blocking, the moonlight. With strong winds pushing the cloud fast, I tried a long exposure in hopes of getting streaks of light. Luckily, the moon was behind the cloud far more than not, otherwise it would have been tremendously overexposed.
