Palisades, Rock Formation

Palisades, Rock Formation

This unusual rock formation, called the Palisades, resulted from an eruption of a volcanic spout west of Washington's White Pass. Geologists believe that dacite lava flowed about nine miles before being blocked at Clear Creek, possibly by glacial ice.
