Slot canyons are a dramatic force of nature, carved during
flash floods. Heavy rains turn dry washes into raging
rivers, which rip through and erode narrow sandstone
canyons. Some canyons are barely wide enough for one person
to crawl through and may be dozens of feet deep. This causes
the vibrant colors as the narrow canyons filter the
sunlight.
