Palouse Falls and Palouse River Gorge

Palouse Falls and Palouse River Gorge, Eastern Washington

Palouse Falls plunges 198 feet into a giant natural amphitheater surrounded by towering columnar basalt walls. Palouse Falls was formed at the end of the last ice age when a mammoth ice dam in Montana regularly collapsed, releasing a torrent of water that carved this winding gorge.
