A half dozen Tundra Swans (Cygnus
columbianus) swim in a narrow passage of the
largely frozen Poison Lake, located in Northern California.
Tundra swans spend the summer on the tundra of Alaska and
northern Canada, and winter on lands, ponds and open marshes,
especially in the western United States. The swans assemble in
large flocks, sometimes numbering in the thousands. |
